History
50 Years, Loving What We Do
For over 50 years and 3 generations, Busath photographers have worked to make beautiful, honest portraits.
We recently passed 70,000 unique client sessions. (If we photographed you or your family since 1973, it's like that we still have your negatives on file.) Among our clients have been Governors, Mayors, Religious leaders, even the U.S. President. Our portraits line the halls of Abravanel Symphony Hall, University of Utah campus, hospitals, and courts around the state.
Historic Evans Mansion, circa 1911
The Morris Evans mansion at 701 E. South Temple was originally built in 1888. After 30 years of residence, the Evans family did an extensive remodel in 1911, resulting in the Tudor style house of today. In it's day the house was a modern marvel with a central vacuum system and central flushing toilets. A modern "carriage house" was built for the automobile-loving family, which now serves as a large studio.
Busath Photography acquired the building in 1980.
The Tudor home with it's ivy covered walls and gardens provide settings for portraits with great character today.
Don Busath
Don began his career in 1955, photographing assignments from portrait to fashion to aerial work for two Salt Lake City studios. Don and and his wife Donna opened their own portrait studio on State Street and South Temple in 1973.
